The Venezuela Solidarity Campaign launched nationally in London in defence of the Bolivarian Revolution following Hugo Chavez rise to power and subsequent US Imperialist aggression against the Bolivarian Republic.

Since founding, the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign has campaigned for the recognition of Venezuela’s legitimate government, campaigned for the return of all Venezuelan gold held in British banks having been stolen by the British state and called for an end to sanctions on the country.

Here in Brighton, we launched the first branch outside of London in December 2025 and continue the work started by the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign in London. We work closely with other progressive anti-Imperialist groups such as the Cuba Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War, Stopl3harris and many more.

Currently we are working on a local campaign to take down the l3harris arms factory which provided the bomb release cables used in the US f35 fighter jets which murdered over 100 Venezuelan civilians the night both Maduro and Flores were kidnapped.

Alongside this, we are providing educationals on the revolutionary and Socialist history of Venezuela.

Our People

Callum Norris – Branch Chair

Callum Norris is the chair and a founding member of the Brighton branch of the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign.

Callum has been involved in community and Anti-Imperialist organising for multiple years and also sits on the all Britain committee of Friends of Socialist China.

He is responsible in part for the day to day organising of the local committee, helping with organising events, running meetings and helping organise local campaigns

Jonathan Maxted – Branch Secretary

Jonathan Maxted is the branch secretary and a founding member of the Brighton branch of the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign.

Jonathan has been active in several political and community organisations for several years and currently serves as a political officer for the Workers Party of Britain.

He assists the branch chair in the day to day operations of the branch to facilitate its administration and provide branch leadership alongside the Chair.

Sam Jephcott-Black – Branch Treasurer

Sam Jephcott-Black is the treasurer and a founding member of the Brighton branch of the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign.

Sam’s primary role is to handle the banking, membership dues and expenses for the branch.

Kweku Martin-Peprah

Kweku is an ardent anti-imperialist who represents Brighton Stop The War as its Comms Officer and Congo Solidarity Group as an Organiser. He has campaigned through organising rallies. He is a contributor to magazines and connecting organisations.

Kweku sits on the local committee of the Brighton branch of the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, where he carrries out duties for its Comms team.

He believes in a world where countries with large reserves of resources don’t live in a siege state or mentality.
