May Day Report 2026

On the 2nd May 2026 the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign alongside other progressive groups gathered to celebrate the most important date in the calendar for working class people around the globe, international workers day.
Progressive groups such as the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, Stand up to Racism, Red Sussex, Stop the War and many more groups attended at a time of heightened working class struggle as well as Imperialist attacks against the global working class.
Speakers made remarks concerning the recent US war on Iran and how it threatens global peace, in particular its impact on workers globally with rapidly increasing energy and oil prices directly impacting working class people around the world.
Kweku from the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign and Congo Solidarity Group pointed out how these Imperialist conflicts are all interlinked and that they must be fought against as one unified struggle.
He remarked that the recent attacks against the sovereign Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela are particularly concerning, with both Nicolas Maduro and Cila Flores still remaining detained illegally in the US and billions of dollars worth of US gold being held illegally in British banks.
The Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, alongside all the progressive groups who attended this years May Day rally, called for the immediate release of Nicolas Maduro and Cila Flores, the return of all of Venezuela’s gold and an end to all Imperialist wars waged against the international working class.
